Engineered Valve and System Solutions

Proportional Controlled Directional Valve/Velocity fuse

  • Description: The velocity fuse valve is a normally open valve that automatically closes based upon a pre-determined flow-rate. The valve does not require any external pilot signals or drain ports. Any flow rate available with actual flow test verification documentation. The valve is also very silt resistant and available in any size.
  • Application: The velocity fuse valve is typically used in applications to protect against excessive flow through a hydraulic system. An example application would be a large cylinder supporting a large load at high pressure. The valve would be installed to protect against an emergency severe loss of load and subsequent excessive flow rate. This would reduce the potential for damaging cylinder velocities. Great for systems needing protection from ruptured hoses to prevent fluid discharge.

Pulse sensing valve (isolation)

  • Description: The pulse sensing valve is a valve offered to provide emergency closure based upon a decompression pulse in the hydraulic medium used in large hydraulic piping systems. A fluid decompression pulse is generally initiated during a severe loss of compression on a fluid hydraulic system. This decompression pulse travels at the speed of sound in the hydraulic fluid from the load interface point to the supply source.
  • Application: The pulse sensing valve is typically used in applications to protect against excessive flow, velocity and cylinder movement in large hydraulic systems. An example application would be a large cylinder supporting a large load at high pressure. The valve would be installed to protect against an emergency severe loss of load and subsequent cylinder acceleration and velocity build up. In a properly designed system during a significant loss of load, the pulse sensing valve can be closed prior to significant flow being delivered to a large hydraulic cylinder. This results in minimal cylinder movement. Also works well for hose rupture applications.

Proportionally Operated Pressure Compensated Flow Control Valve

  • Description: The proportionally operated pressure compensated flow control valve (POPCFC) allows a user to open the valve to a given valve value via an electrical or hydraulic pilot signal. This allows users infinite throttling positions. In addition, the valve offers pressure compensated flow control. This controls the flow through the valve independent of pressure differential over the valve ports.
  • Application: The POPCFC valve is typically used in large lifting cylinders. When used in this application a user will retract the cylinders using the POPCFC valve to lower the cylinders, but at a controlled flow rate. With the POPCFC, no matter what the load induced pressure across the valve, the cylinders will travel at virtually the same speed due to the pressure compensation feature offered with the POPCFC. Available in any size and flow rate.

Manifold systems (SV117)

  • Description: Manifold circuit design and assembly, using various function insertable and mounted valves along with varied components.
  • Application: Propeller pitch control manifold system for naval ship speed and steering control.
